Tracy Bomar-Howze, Esq

Tracy Bomar-Howze, Esq. brings decades of hands-on legal experience to the clients she represents. Licensed in Michigan, South Carolina, and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, she has built a career grounded in service, accountability, and a deep understanding of the challenges people face when navigating the legal system. As the founder and owner of The Howze Law Firm, which she established in 2018, Tracy leads with a results-driven mindset and a firm commitment to operational excellence.

At The Howze Law Firm, Tracy concentrates her practice in family law, bankruptcy, and estate planning. She guides individuals and families through some of the most important transitions in their lives, offering steady counsel during moments that can feel overwhelming. Her consistent, detail-driven work has earned her numerous recognitions, including the Client Champion Award (2021–2022); Expertise Awards in Bankruptcy, Family, and Probate Law; the Elite Lawyer designation in Bankruptcy and Family Law (2024, 2025); and the 2024 Best of Business Award for Family Law in York County.

Tracy began her legal career in corporate law with a Fortune 500 Company in Michigan before returning to South Carolina, where she worked with South Carolina Legal Services. She represented clients dealing with domestic violence, foreclosure, unemployment benefits, social security matters, evictions, and bankruptcy. Tracy has handled numerous trials on behalf of South Carolina DSS across various counties.

She later joined the Matre Law Firm with a focus on real estate transactions and then served as the Lead Attorney Trainer at the Children’s Law Center at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she developed and delivered statewide legal training programs for attorneys and DSS professionals on child welfare practice.

Since 2002, Tracy has also maintained a strong presence in higher education, teaching at York Technical College, Winthrop University, and the University of Phoenix. She was honored with the Phi Theta Kappa Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018 and has presented at numerous CLE programs for attorneys and South Carolina family court judges.

Tracy remains an active and respected member of the legal community. She is a member of both the South Carolina Family Court Inn of Court and the South Carolina Bankruptcy Inn of Court, organizations dedicated to promoting mentorship, professionalism, and ethical practice among judges, attorneys, and legal scholars.

Her commitment to public service runs just as deep. In 2013, she served as a project leader for the American College of Bankruptcy, helping establish protocols for pro se Chapter 7 filers in South Carolina. She has also held leadership roles with the South Carolina Bar’s Law Related Education Committee, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the School Improvement Council, and served as Chair of the Board for Safe Passage.
